Ambassador Jiang Reaffirms Friendship in Peshawar
The Ambassador of China to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, reaffirmed the deep-rooted and ironclad friendship between China and Pakistan during the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations organised by China Window in Peshawar. He extended warm festive greetings, wishing happiness, health, and prosperity to all attendees and their families.
Festival Symbolises Peace and Reunion
Ambassador Jiang described the Mid-Autumn Festival as one of China’s most poetic and meaningful traditions, symbolising family reunion, peace, and harmony. This year’s event, he noted, held special joy as it coincided with China’s National Day, marking a double celebration for the Chinese nation.
Promoting Cultural Understanding and Global Cooperation
Highlighting today’s interconnected world, Jiang emphasised that civilizational inclusiveness and mutual learning among nations are vital for modernisation and cultural enrichment. He recalled President Xi Jinping’s vision of the China-Pakistan bond as resilient, brotherly, and rooted in trust and shared values.
CPEC: Driving Economic and Social Growth
Referring to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Ambassador Jiang said the initiative continues to serve as a major driver of Pakistan’s socio-economic progress. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he mentioned several milestones, including the completion of the Rashakai Special Economic Zone (Phase I), the first anniversary of the Suki Kinari Hydropower Station’s commercial operations, which has generated 2.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, and significant progress in fibre-optic and transport infrastructure projects that are enhancing regional connectivity.
Cultural Collaboration and People-to-People Bonds
Ambassador Jiang also praised cultural exchanges such as the China-Pakistan Art Exchange Exhibition, co-hosted by the KP Directorate of Archaeology and Museums. He commended China Window for consistently presenting a truthful and multidimensional image of China, helping to deepen understanding between the two nations.
“Wherever the moonlight reaches, there is a sense of home,” Jiang remarked, reaffirming that China and Pakistan will continue to stand “hand in hand and heart to heart.”
Pakistan’s Tribute to Shared Friendship
Provincial Secretary for Culture and Tourism, Dr Abdul Samad, lauded Pakistanis’ enthusiasm in celebrating Chinese festivals, calling it a testament to the enduring friendship between the two nations. On behalf of the KP government, he extended warm greetings and best wishes to the Chinese people and diplomats for happiness and prosperity.
Cultural Performances and Festive Spirit
The event concluded with colourful cultural performances by local students, followed by the distribution of traditional mooncakes by China Window to mark the joyous occasion.
