Twelve new cooperation projects worth RMB 235 million were signed between China and Pakistan during the Pakistan-focused session of the 15th Kashgar-Central and South Asia Commodity Fair held in China’s Xinjiang region on Tuesday.
Themed “Sharing Development Opportunities, Building CPEC Together,” the fair focused on trade, logistics, agriculture, tourism, new energy, and information technology, serving as a practical platform to strengthen bilateral ties under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Rising Trade Between Kashgar and Pakistan
According to the organisers, trade between Kashgar and Pakistan grew by 74% year-on-year in the first half of 2025. Over 200 Kashgar-based foreign trade firms are now active in the Pakistani market, while 56 Pakistani businesses have set up operations in Kashgar, mainly in logistics, import-export trade, and jewellery processing.
Business Leaders Express Optimism
Nadeem Alam, President of the Hunza Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said CPEC had laid a solid foundation for Pakistan-China exchanges and called for deeper collaboration in infrastructure, energy, tourism, and trade facilitation to accelerate growth.
Fair Attracts Wide International Participation
The Kashgar fair, which began on August 15, drew participants from 40 countries, including Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. A total of 181 international enterprises and 1,120 Chinese companies showcased diverse products aimed at expanding regional trade and economic cooperation.
