A major milestone has been achieved under the Dasu Hydropower Project as all seven tunnels under the KKH-01 relocation package have been completed, highlighting ongoing infrastructure cooperation between China and Pakistan. The final breakthrough of the 953-meter Uchar B tunnel was marked during a ceremony attended by engineers and project officials.
The tunnels are part of the relocation of sections of the Karakoram Highway that will be affected by the reservoir created under the hydropower project. Once operational, the tunnels will ensure continued regional connectivity and safe transportation in Upper Kohistan.
Construction is being carried out by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation in coordination with Water and Power Development Authority. Officials say the development reflects steady progress in China-Pakistan infrastructure collaboration, strengthening energy capacity and regional development.
