Balochistan has introduced China-made hybrid-electric buses in Turbat under the Green People’s Bus Service, enhancing public transport in the Makran region. The eco-friendly buses are designed to reduce air pollution and offer modern, reliable commuting options.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti inaugurated the service by personally driving one of the buses. The system is expected to serve over 4,500 passengers daily, with each bus carrying up to 100 passengers. Wheelchair accessibility, special seating for women, children, and elderly passengers, along with safety features and electronic route displays, have been installed.
Bugti announced plans to launch women-only pink buses next year, providing safe and dignified travel for female commuters. The Turbat launch follows the successful deployment of eco-friendly Chinese buses in Quetta, where the fleet has expanded to 25 buses, improving city-wide connectivity and reducing overcrowding.
