A fleet of China-manufactured electric buses has been launched in Gujar Khan, Punjab, marking the sub-district’s first green public transport service. The inauguration was attended by provincial ministers, officials, lawmakers, and district representatives.
The buses will initially run between Gujar Khan Bus Terminal, Sohawa city, and the Police Complex, providing daily commuters with modern, safe, and environmentally friendly travel options. Senior citizens, women, and students will be able to travel free of charge.
The launch is part of Punjab’s larger electric mobility roadmap, which aims to deploy over 1,100 buses this year and an additional 1,500 next year. The initiative reflects Pakistan’s commitment to green infrastructure, reducing urban pollution, and strengthening technological collaboration with China.
