Pakistan’s National Highway Authority has selected a Chinese-led joint venture to carry out a climate risk study for the reconstruction of the N-5 highway in Pakistan, according to an official report.
The winning consortium includes NAREE International Ltd. and Beijing-based Youdi Tiacheng Planning & Design, supported by Systems Engineering Associate as a sub-consultant. Another Chinese-linked consortium placed second in the evaluation.
The consultancy contract is worth about 53.29 million rupees. The study will assess environmental threats and propose solutions for the N-5 corridor, which connects the port city of Karachi to the border town of Torkham, making it one of the country’s most important transport routes.
