Pakistan and China have formalized a partnership to enhance research in agriculture, as The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) signed an MoU with the Institute of Urban Agriculture under the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS). The collaboration focuses on sustainable and urban farming practices, aiming to strengthen scientific knowledge and practical applications.
The agreement covers joint research in agronomy, plant breeding, horticulture, soil science, food technology, and environmental sciences. It also provides academic exchanges for faculty, PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and undergraduate students, fostering cross-border learning and innovation.
Both institutions will share resources, including laboratories, libraries, and technical infrastructure, and work together on conferences, scientific publications, and projects. Experts say this partnership could boost agricultural innovation in Pakistan while strengthening ties with China in science and technology.
