China hosted the Tianshan Forum for Central Asia Economic Cooperation in Urumqi, Xinjiang, bringing together over 300 representatives from governments, financial institutions, and private organizations. The event focused on fostering regional trade, improving transport and energy networks, and boosting digital connectivity among Central Asian nations.
The forum, held over two days under the theme “Unlocking Connectivity and Investment in Central Asia,” highlighted the growing economic importance of Central Asia and its potential as a hub connecting Eurasia. Delegates discussed strategies to strengthen industry ties, enhance agricultural collaboration, and promote technology exchange.
Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, praised the progress of Pakistan-China projects and called for greater cooperation in trade, people-to-people exchanges, and technological development to further regional integration.
A Central Asia fiscal cooperation research center was also inaugurated during the forum, aiming to provide analytical support and strengthen cross-border investment, trade, and policy coordination. The forum underscores China’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and sustainable economic growth across Central Asia.
