China plans to accelerate the growth of emerging and future industries, according to the government’s latest work report. The initiative targets strategic sectors including integrated circuits, aviation, aerospace, biomedicine, and the low-altitude economy, aiming to build strong pillars for long-term economic development.
The draft outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) identifies future-oriented technologies such as quantum computing, brain-computer interfaces, embodied AI, and 6G communications. China is committed to advancing original innovation, achieving self-reliance, and driving breakthroughs across full technology chains, from high-end instruments to bio-manufacturing and advanced materials.
Additionally, the plan emphasizes establishing three international centers for science and technology innovation, designed to become global innovation engines. This ambitious strategy underscores China’s intent to lead globally in strategic technologies and cultivate new drivers of economic growth for the next decade.
