China has announced a major plan to accelerate development in emerging and future industries during the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030). The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) outlined initiatives to foster new growth sectors, introduce advanced technologies, and create national demonstration bases for strategic industries.
The focus will include sectors such as new energy vehicles, photovoltaics, drones, and shipbuilding. Authorities will implement policies to support local innovation, encourage forward-looking projects, and utilize government investment funds to drive industrial expansion across regions.
This strategy builds on successes from the 14th Five-Year Plan, which saw record growth in NEVs, photovoltaic production, and marine engineering equipment. Officials expect these initiatives to enhance China’s industrial capabilities, promote sustainable innovation, and strengthen its position in global advanced manufacturing.
