A total of 119 Chinese nationals were safely evacuated from Israel to Egypt on Thursday via the Taba border crossing in South Sinai Province.
After completing all necessary border procedures, the evacuees crossed into Egypt around 3:30 PM local time (12:30 GMT), where they were directed to waiting buses for further transport.
The Chinese Embassy in Egypt confirmed that among the evacuees were 117 students and two residents of Hong Kong, who are now en route to Cairo.
Chinese Ambassador to Egypt, Liao Liqiang, emphasized that the Chinese government places utmost importance on the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad.
Liao explained that all evacuation arrangements were swiftly completed within 24 hours, and a dedicated response team was sent to Taba overnight to oversee the operation.
He also noted that the embassy coordinated closely with Egyptian authorities throughout the night to secure the necessary permissions, support, and safety measures for the evacuees.
Sun Xue, a postdoctoral researcher at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, shared that the drive from Jerusalem to the Taba border took about four hours.
She expressed gratitude for the help received, noting that embassy staff and volunteers provided caring assistance and coordination during the border entry process.
