China has donated veterinary vaccines to Pakistan to strengthen livestock disease control and improve animal health across the country.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China provided vaccines against Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) and Brucella melitensis. The donation reflects growing cooperation between Pakistan and China in agriculture, livestock, research, and science.

Vaccines Target Major Livestock Diseases

The donated vaccines will support efforts to control diseases that affect livestock health and productivity.

LSD can reduce milk production and cause weight loss in animals. It can also damage hides and skins.

Meanwhile, Brucella melitensis can cause reproductive problems, abortions, and lower livestock productivity. Therefore, timely vaccination can help limit disease spread and reduce economic losses.

China-Pakistan Agricultural Cooperation

The vaccine handover ceremony took place at the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC).

Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain attended the ceremony. Chinese Chargé d’Affaires Shi Yuanqiang and senior Pakistani officials also participated.

Moreover, scientists and livestock-sector experts joined the event to discuss animal health and disease control.

Boosting Livestock Protection

Rana Tanveer Hussain said the donation would strengthen Pakistan’s animal health measures. He also highlighted the economic impact of livestock diseases on farmers and producers.

In addition, he stressed that vaccination can protect livestock and support rural livelihoods. Better disease control can also help maintain milk and meat production.

Focus on Safe Vaccine Use

The minister said authorities will use the vaccines according to technical and regulatory requirements.

Proper cold-chain management will remain important throughout the process. Authorities will also monitor vaccine administration and effectiveness to ensure safe and effective use.

Pakistan Seeks Deeper Cooperation with China

Pakistan also wants to benefit further from China’s experience in livestock health and agricultural technology.

Furthermore, the government aims to strengthen institutional and technical cooperation with Chinese partners.

As a result, the latest vaccine donation could support both livestock protection and broader Pakistan-China agricultural cooperation.
