China’s Ministry of Commerce has outlined plans to stimulate domestic consumption and expand economic opening-up as core priorities for 2026. The strategy was discussed during a national commerce conference reviewing policy directions for the coming year.
Officials said efforts will focus on boosting consumer spending through targeted campaigns, supporting service-sector growth and refining trade-in policies for consumer goods. Digital, green and health-related consumption are expected to become key growth drivers.
On trade and investment, China plans to upgrade goods and services trade, improve the business environment for foreign investors and align domestic rules with high-standard international trade frameworks. Authorities also aim to strengthen overseas investment coordination and deepen Belt and Road cooperation.
