China Coast Guard Expels Philippine Vessels from Huangyan on Monday, removing several Philippine coast guard and public service ships from waters surrounding the disputed island. Beijing stated the action was in line with Chinese laws and regulations, reinforcing its stance over territorial sovereignty in the South China Sea.
According to CCG spokesperson Gan Yu, the Philippine vessels entered the Huangyan Dao area under the pretext of delivering supplies to fishing boats, ignoring repeated Chinese warnings and calls to withdraw.
In response, the China Coast Guard implemented “necessary measures”, including tracking, monitoring, and blocking, to drive the vessels away. Gan emphasised that all operations were conducted in a professional, standardised, and lawful manner.
Reaffirming Beijing’s position, Gan described Huangyan Dao as “China’s inherent territory” and pledged that the CCG would continue safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and maritime rights through ongoing rights-protection and law-enforcement patrols in the area.
