A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense on Thursday called on the United States to adopt an objective and rational understanding of China, urging it to stop deceiving the American public and misleading the international community.
Spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang made these remarks in response to recent statements by the U.S. Secretary of Defense, who labeled China a “threat” and emphasized U.S. deterrence strategies in the Indo-Pacific, including strengthening combat readiness and boosting Taiwan’s defense capabilities.
Zhang reaffirmed that the Taiwan issue is strictly an internal matter for China and should not be subject to foreign interference. He urged the United States to stop shifting blame onto China and instead work towards creating a positive environment for bilateral and military relations.
He further asserted that China’s development poses no threat to other nations and that, unlike certain countries, China does not rely on deterrence or coercion. He emphasized that the Chinese military remains a firm force for maintaining global peace.
