China is prepared to collaborate with all stakeholders to push forward high-quality Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation for shared growth and mutual benefit, said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun during a Tuesday press briefing in Beijing.
Responding to a recent report and giving a Belt and Road 2025 update, Guo highlighted that the total project value under BRI in the first half of 2025 has already surpassed that of the entire previous year, marking a record high. As per scholars and media observers, this rise reflects growing interest from partner countries seeking closer ties, mainly due to China’s role in global supply chain resilience, especially when contrasted with the United States’ protectionist trade measures.
Guo emphasised that the BRI has now entered a phase of high-quality development. From Eurasia and Africa to Latin America, the initiative is not only improving physical infrastructure but also enhancing institutional and cultural links. Among China BRI projects, He outlined several key milestones: the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway has served over 10 million passengers, China-Europe Railway Express has operated more than 110,000 freight trains, and the first two-way voyage between Chancay and Shanghai via the new land-sea corridor has been completed.
Additional achievements include over 1.5 gigawatts of installed photovoltaic capacity in Africa, and grassroots projects such as Luban Workshops and juncao technology, which are contributing to local livelihoods.
With over a decade of momentum, Guo noted that the BRI is evolving into a broader platform for trade and industrial collaboration, enabling more countries to connect with global value chains and helping stabilise the world’s supply networks.
He reiterated China’s commitment to joint planning, inclusive development, and sustainable cooperation, guided by principles of openness, green development, and integrity.
