Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, during a press briefing on the Monthly Development Update Report, stated Pakistan is on track to become a trillion-dollar economy by 2035. He highlighted reforms in tax administration, digital systems, and governance aimed at improving transparency and reducing tax evasion.
Iqbal noted average inflation dropped from 6.5% to 5.2%, tax revenue reached Rs. 7.2 trillion, exports rose by 3.7% to $3.1 billion, and remittances increased 10.5% to $19.7 billion. Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) spending rose 27%, generating 73,000 new jobs.
He emphasized social programs like the National Mother and Child Care Conference and expanded Ramazan relief for 1.7 million families. Industrial growth is at 6%, and global agencies including the IMF and World Bank have recognized Pakistan’s positive economic trajectory.
