Pakistan’s merchandise exports to China increased 45% year-on-year to $478 million during the first two months of FY2026-27. The latest figures come from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).

Pakistan exported goods worth $478 million during July-August 2026. The figure stood at $331 million during the same period of FY2025-26. Therefore, exports increased by $147 million.

China Remains Pakistan’s Second-Largest Market

China remained Pakistan’s second-largest export destination during the period. The United States ranked first, with Pakistani exports reaching $1.172 billion.

Meanwhile, exports to the United Kingdom stood at $409 million. China followed with $478 million.

China’s share of Pakistan’s total merchandise exports also increased. It reached around 8.8%, compared with approximately 6.5% a year earlier.

August Exports Rise 51%

Pakistan’s exports to China also recorded strong growth in August alone. Shipments reached $238 million, compared with $158 million in August 2025.

This represents a 51% year-on-year increase. The monthly rise contributed significantly to the overall growth during the first two months of the fiscal year.

Pakistan’s Overall Exports Also Grow

Pakistan’s total merchandise exports increased during July-August 2026. Shipments to all international markets reached $5.459 billion.

The figure compares with $5.10 billion during the same period in 2025. This represents a 7.04% increase.

However, exports to China grew much faster than Pakistan’s overall export performance.

Major Export Commodities Show Growth

TDAP also reported higher exports across several major commodities. Refined copper exports rose 42% to $175 million.

Similarly, cotton yarn exports increased 38% to $159 million. Rice exports reached $394 million, marking a 23% increase.

Bovine meat exports also grew by 34% to $77 million. Meanwhile, petroleum oils excluding crude oil surged 99% to $137 million.

Other oilseeds and oleaginous fruits recorded particularly strong growth. Their exports increased more than fourfold to $62 million.

China Exports Rise Over the Past Year

Pakistan’s exports to China also increased during FY2025-26. According to TDAP’s Annual Report, Pakistan exported goods worth $2.668 billion to China.

The figure was $2.421 billion in FY2024-25. This represents a 10% increase.

China remained Pakistan’s second-largest export market during the previous fiscal year as well.

China Growth Contrasts With Overall Exports

Pakistan’s overall goods exports declined during FY2025-26. They fell 5.93% to $30.139 billion, compared with $32.040 billion a year earlier.

In contrast, exports to China increased during the same period. The latest figures also show continued growth in shipments to the Chinese market during the opening months of FY2026-27.

The trend highlights the expanding role of China in Pakistan’s export portfolio and bilateral trade.
