President Asif Ali Zardari has called for stronger Pakistan-China economic cooperation through deeper strategic trust, high-level exchanges, and closer people-to-people ties.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Dr. Syed Ali Asad Gilani, Pakistan’s ambassador-designate to China, at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Focus on Economic and Industrial Integration
President Zardari said Pakistan should turn strong political goodwill with China into greater economic and industrial integration.
He also welcomed the focus on Business-to-Business (B2B) cooperation under CPEC 2.0. According to the president, stronger business links can create new opportunities for both countries.
Moreover, he highlighted modern agriculture, artificial intelligence, and new technologies as important areas for future cooperation.
Skills and Youth Employment
The president placed particular emphasis on skills development and youth employment.
He said cooperation in emerging technologies could help Pakistan develop new skills and create more employment opportunities for young people.
In addition, modern agriculture remains an important area for bilateral collaboration.
Ambassador Asked to Strengthen Engagement
President Zardari asked Ambassador-designate Gilani to maintain proactive engagement with Chinese government institutions and the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
He also called for stronger links with Chinese think tanks, academia, and media organizations.
Furthermore, he emphasized people-to-people exchanges, including greater opportunities for student exchanges between Pakistan and China.
CPEC 2.0 at the Centre of Cooperation
The emphasis on B2B cooperation reflects the growing role of private-sector partnerships in the next phase of CPEC.
The proposed areas include agriculture, artificial intelligence, new technologies, skills development, and industrial cooperation.
As Pakistan and China continue their long-standing partnership, economic integration remains a key area for future bilateral engagement.
