Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched a special relief scheme to reduce the impact of rising petrol prices on the public.

The initiative comes amid tensions in the Middle East and a surge in global oil prices. The government will provide Rs100 per litre relief to eligible users.

Who Can Get Petrol Relief?

The scheme covers motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi rickshaws, and other eligible two- and three-wheelers.

These users will receive Rs100 relief per litre on up to 20 litres of petrol per month.

Meanwhile, owners of cars with engines up to 800cc will receive the same relief on up to 30 litres per month.

Scheme to Roll Out Across Pakistan

The government will first implement the scheme in Islamabad Capital Territory. It will begin on the night between Monday and Tuesday.

Afterward, the scheme will expand to the rest of Pakistan. This includes Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, with implementation starting on the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

Registration Begins Today

Registration for the petrol relief scheme has started. The government will announce the registration process through a public awareness campaign.

Moreover, authorities are using information provided by the provinces to identify eligible motorcycles, rickshaws, and small vehicles.

Government Assures Public Support

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the government understands the financial pressure caused by higher oil prices.

He assured citizens that the government would continue supporting them during the difficult period. He also thanked the provinces for cooperating with the registration process.

Relief Amid Global Oil Price Pressure

The scheme aims to provide direct financial relief to people who rely heavily on petrol for daily transport.

As a result, eligible low-income and small-vehicle users could see some reduction in their monthly fuel expenses.
