Pakistan is planning a major modernization of its law enforcement system. The government will establish a pilot Law Enforcement Investigation Centre in Islamabad.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the plan on Thursday. He said the initiative draws on policing practices used in China.

The government also plans to expand the use of artificial intelligence, drones, and other modern technologies.

New Investigation Centre Planned

The proposed centre will bring several legal procedures under one roof. These will include detention, investigation, and summary trials.

As a result, authorities expect faster handling of minor criminal cases. The system could also improve coordination between investigation and justice institutions.

Police to Use Advanced Drones

The Ministry of Interior’s Aviation Wing will receive advanced drones under the modernization plan.

These drones will support aerial surveillance during field operations. Moreover, they could strengthen monitoring capabilities and help law enforcement respond more efficiently.

Training Programs to Expand

Naqvi spoke during a meeting with Assistant Superintendents of Police who recently completed specialized training in China and Türkiye.

He said overseas training will become a permanent part of police professional development. Pakistani officers will gain exposure to international policing methods and modern investigation practices.

National Police Academy to Get New Facilities

The government also plans to establish specialized investigation rooms at the National Police Academy.

Furthermore, officials will update the police training curriculum. The revised curriculum will focus on modern investigation techniques and international best practices.

New Police Uniform Also Planned

The reform program will also introduce a redesigned police uniform.

According to Naqvi, the new uniform will focus on operational requirements. The change forms part of broader efforts to modernize Pakistan’s police services.

China-Inspired Police Reforms

The proposed reforms reflect Pakistan’s growing interest in technology-driven policing models.

By combining modern surveillance tools, specialized training, and improved investigation systems, the government aims to build a more efficient law enforcement structure.

The planned reforms could also strengthen Pakistan-China cooperation in professional training and policing technology.
