The Balochistan government has started demarcating land for a low-cost housing scheme aimed at providing affordable homes to low-income fishermen in Gwadar.

The exercise began on July 8 under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Zahoor Ahmed Baloch. Officials launched the operation following directions from Gwadar Development Authority Director General Moin ur Rehman Khan.

Nearly 3,000 Residential Plots Planned

In April, the provincial government allocated more than 200 acres of land for the project. The housing scheme has an estimated cost of Rs2.44 billion.

The site is located near the intersection of Jiwani and Awaran avenues, close to the Gwadar Sports Complex. Authorities plan to develop 2,970 residential plots, each measuring 120 square yards, for eligible fishermen.

Survey and Boundary Marking Underway

A joint team from the Gwadar Development Authority, the district administration, and police has started surveying the site and installing boundary markers.

Moreover, revenue officials, surveyors, enforcement teams, and police officers are working together to complete the demarcation process.

Action Against Illegal Occupation

Officials also inspected the area for alleged encroachments and unauthorized occupation of government land.

Those occupying public land have been directed to vacate the site within a specified period. Furthermore, authorities warned that legal action may be taken against individuals who fail to comply.

Supporting Gwadar’s Master Plan

The Gwadar Development Authority said the exercise supports the implementation of the city’s master plan and helps protect public land from illegal occupation.

As a result, the housing scheme is expected to improve living conditions for low-income fishermen while supporting Gwadar’s long-term urban development.
