Karakoram International University marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China with a cultural and academic event on Thursday.
The ceremony featured Chinese language speech and writing competitions. Students enrolled in Mandarin programs participated in large numbers, showing growing interest in language learning in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Faculty members highlighted that demand for Mandarin has increased in recent years. They linked this trend to expanding opportunities under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The event also included cultural performances by students. Participants presented patriotic songs in Chinese, adding a cultural dimension to the celebrations.
University officials said such initiatives help strengthen academic collaboration and promote people-to-people connections between the two countries.
They added that language learning plays a key role in deepening bilateral understanding and preparing students for emerging opportunities.
