Punjab Tianjin University of Technology has signed a strategic agreement with Shenzhen Low Altitude Future Technology to advance drone technology development in Pakistan.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focuses on strengthening collaboration in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems and emerging technologies. Both sides aim to enhance innovation, training, and industrial applications.
Under the agreement, PTUT and SLAFT will jointly conduct research and development in drone technologies. These applications will cover agriculture, commercial operations, industrial use, and specialized sectors.
The partnership also includes the establishment of a Center of Excellence at PTUT. This facility will support drone maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), along with pilot training and certification programs.
In addition, both institutions will develop academic curricula and short courses. These programs will focus on UAV avionics, flight control systems, automation, safety, and mission planning.
The MoU highlights technology transfer and local adaptation as key priorities. This approach aims to support domestic manufacturing and build Pakistan’s capacity in drone systems.
Furthermore, both sides plan to pursue joint research funding at national and international levels. They will also strengthen partnerships with Chinese universities and industry stakeholders.
The collaboration will promote faculty and student exchange programs in fields such as robotics, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and intelligent transportation. It will also cover advanced areas like integrated circuits, communications, and new energy vehicles.
Moreover, the agreement includes the development of maker labs and rapid prototyping facilities at PTUT. These initiatives will help students and researchers turn ideas into practical solutions.
Officials said the partnership represents a major step toward building a skilled workforce and advancing Pakistan’s technological capabilities in the drone and automation sectors.
