The Dasu Hydropower Project (DHPP) has distributed health and hygiene kits to students in Upper Kohistan to promote better hygiene practices in schools.
Officials carried out the distribution at two government girls’ primary schools. A total of 307 students at Government Girls Primary School DC Colony and 123 students at Government Girls Primary School Chiraghabad received the kits.
The initiative forms part of a broader community wellness program managed by the Water and Power Development Authority. It aims to improve personal hygiene and encourage healthy habits among young students.
Local teachers welcomed the initiative and said it would help improve student health and confidence. They noted that access to basic hygiene supplies can play a key role in school attendance and well-being.
Earlier this month, the project team distributed 433 kits in the Seo area under the same campaign launched on March 15. As a result, the program has already reached several communities in Upper Kohistan.
DHPP officials confirmed that the initiative will expand further. They plan to distribute kits in 11 government high schools to increase awareness of preventive healthcare among both students and teachers.
The Dasu Hydropower Project is a major energy project on the Indus River. It is being developed by China Gezhouba Group Company.
The project has a planned capacity of 4,320 megawatts. Its first phase, currently under construction, will generate 2,160 megawatts and produce over 12,000 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually.
