China has called for an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East conflict, urging all parties, particularly the United States and Israel, to halt military actions to prevent further escalation. Chinese Special Envoy Zhai Jun stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomatic engagement following visits to key regional countries including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait.
Chinese officials warned that continued use of force could trigger a “vicious cycle” of violence, risking widespread instability across the region. Rising tensions around the Strait of Hormuz have already disrupted a critical global energy route, raising concerns over oil and gas supplies and increasing pressure on international markets.
Analysts caution that a prolonged conflict could weaken global economic growth and reduce demand for Chinese exports, particularly in emerging markets sensitive to rising energy costs. While China remains relatively resilient due to diversified energy sources, increasing oil prices may drive inflation higher, highlighting the urgent need for de-escalation and peaceful resolution.
