China successfully launched the Yaogan-50 02 remote sensing satellite from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi Province. The satellite lifted off at 9:22 p.m. on March 15, 2026, aboard a modified Long March-6 carrier rocket and entered its designated orbit. The launch mission was reported as a complete success.
The satellite is designed for multiple purposes, including land surveys, crop yield estimation, and disaster prevention and relief. Experts highlight that its deployment will strengthen China’s capabilities in environmental monitoring, agricultural planning, and rapid disaster response.
This mission marks the 633rd flight of the Long March carrier rocket series, reinforcing China’s growing expertise and experience in satellite launches and space technology applications.
