Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed the importance of political loyalty in the military to advance China’s national defense modernization. Speaking at a plenary meeting with the People’s Liberation Army and People’s Armed Police Force delegation, Xi highlighted the need for disciplined, corruption-free forces under strong Party leadership.
Xi emphasized establishing strict oversight, monitoring funds, power use, and quality control, while ensuring modern weaponry and equipment are handled by politically committed personnel. He also called for systematic training in joint operations, new combat types, high-level technology, and strategic management to enhance the military’s capabilities.
Since 2012, the Party has intensified efforts to strengthen political loyalty in the armed forces. Xi highlighted that consolidating the ideological foundation of officers and soldiers, along with promoting the Party and military traditions, is essential for translating leadership into sustained development momentum and a modern, effective military.
