The Gwadar Book Fair was inaugurated on January 29 under the Rural Community Development Council (RCDC), attracting widespread public interest. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed by social activist Dr. Qurat-ul-Ain Bukhtiari. This 11th edition featured over 40 stalls from publishers and book agencies, alongside 16 cultural and literary exhibits.
The fair was dedicated to renowned Balochi poet and scholar Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi, with speakers paying tribute to his educational contributions. The opening ceremony included a musical performance by Sarozi Fida Baloch, delighting attendees with traditional songs. RCDC President Haji Abdul Ghani Nawazish, MPA Hadayat-ur-Rehman, and the University of Gwadar Vice Chancellor addressed the audience.
Organizers described the fair as a platform for promoting knowledge, awareness, and critical thinking, highlighting the importance of cultivating a reading culture among youth. They emphasized that such events help guide young people towards productive learning and strengthen literary engagement across Pakistan.
