Pakistan is positioning Gwadar Port as a major gateway for expanding trade with African countries, with a particular focus on East Africa. The initiative aims to transform Gwadar into a strategic export hub supporting regional and transcontinental commerce.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry stated that new maritime corridors linking Pakistan with African ports could reduce trade costs by up to 30 percent. Routes connecting Karachi with Djibouti and Mombasa are expected to shorten delivery times and improve supply chain efficiency.
Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Pakistan Harerimana Fatou welcomed the initiative, noting that enhanced maritime connectivity would strengthen bilateral trade and deepen economic cooperation between Pakistan and African nations.
