Chinese Vice President and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met the Secretary-General of the 57-nation Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Beijing on Monday, amid escalating Middle East tension. The talks emphasized building regional security partnerships and promoting political solutions to hot-spot issues.
The discussions come after US-Iran tensions intensified, with warnings of military action from both sides and ongoing economic protests in Iran. The unrest in Iran, beginning in late December, has been fueled by rising inflation, currency devaluation, and dissatisfaction over economic management.
Wang Yi highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation, calling for stability in the region while addressing external influences. Both sides stressed the need for political settlements and multilateral engagement to prevent further escalation of conflicts in the Middle East.
