China has begun the second-phase technical trials for 6G, following the successful completion of first-phase research that established over 300 key technologies. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) confirmed the progress as part of China’s roadmap for next-generation communication networks.
China has integrated 5G and gigabit optical networks into 91 of 97 major national economic sectors, while the industrial internet covers 41 key industries. With nearly 4.84 million 5G base stations and more than 1.2 billion users, China now has the world’s largest information infrastructure.
Officials emphasized that the second-phase 6G trials will further enhance China’s global leadership in telecommunications, enabling ultra-fast, highly reliable networks for industries and consumers alike. This development marks a major step toward commercial deployment of 6G technology in the coming years.
