The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan held a donation ceremony at Gwadar Port on January 15, providing 675 fishing nets to support local fishermen. Shah Fahad, Assistant Director of the Balochistan Fisheries Department, received the nets on behalf of the community, with representatives from China Overseas Ports Holding Company (COPHC) and local fishermen present.
The donation consignment, which arrived on January 12, consists of 45 packages containing 15 packs of nets, bundles of orange and small ropes, each package serving 5–6 fishermen. This first batch aims to improve fishing efficiency, helping the local community secure a stable income while encouraging sustainable practices.
Previously, Gwadar fishermen benefited from Chinese contributions including engines, incubators, marine life-saving kits, and other livelihood materials. The Chinese Consulate in Karachi has pledged ongoing support for Balochistan, particularly Gwadar Port City, as part of the socio-economic development phase of CPEC, demonstrating strong Pakistan-China cooperation and commitment to regional prosperity.
