Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (AARI) Faisalabad has signed a memorandum of understanding with China’s Chengdu JintianSeeds to strengthen cooperation in vegetable breeding and seed research. The agreement reflects expanding scientific collaboration between Pakistan and China’s agricultural sectors.
The partnership aims to support the development of improved vegetable varieties, focusing on food security and sustainable agricultural growth in Pakistan. The MoU was signed in Chengdu on December 31, with AARI scientists Rahil Shahzad and Wajeeha Khan representing Pakistan.
Under the agreement, both sides will work jointly on germplasm assessment, breeding of stress-tolerant hybrids, research exchanges, training programs, and multi-location field trials, with future prospects for commercial seed development.
