Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s firm commitment to protecting the constitutional rights of minorities, stating that Pakistan belongs equally to all citizens regardless of faith. Addressing a Christmas ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Office, he emphasized the importance of interfaith harmony and tolerance.
The prime minister highlighted the teachings of Jesus Christ (Hazrat Isa AS) as symbols of peace, compassion, and service to humanity, and praised the Christian community’s contributions to Pakistan in education, healthcare, defense, and the justice system. He specifically acknowledged notable figures such as Justice A.R. Cornelius, Air Commodore Cecil Chaudhry (Shaheed), and Dr. Ruth Pfau for their extraordinary services to the nation.
Referring to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s vision, PM Shehbaz Sharif stressed that full religious freedom and equal legal rights are guaranteed under the Constitution. He assured that no form of discrimination or violence against minorities will be tolerated, while urging mutual respect among all faiths for national unity and progress.
