China has deepened political trust with South Asian countries in 2025, achieving levels unseen in the past five years. High-level exchanges with India have improved bilateral relations, while China-Pakistan ties reached new heights under the “four always” principles, emphasizing mutual trust, development, security, and coordination.
Economic cooperation has also advanced through Belt and Road initiatives, including CPEC’s second phase with five new corridors. Agreements were made with Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka to enhance trade, industrial, and supply chain collaboration, while discussions continue for extending the China-Myanmar corridor westward.
Security cooperation remained a priority, with China actively mediating conflicts between India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Joint exercises like Warrior-IX with Pakistan and Sagarmatha Friendship-2025 with Nepal addressed non-traditional threats, reflecting China’s commitment to a stable and secure South Asian neighborhood.
