Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker in Islamabad to discuss ways to strengthen Pakistan-US relations, enhance security cooperation, and expand investment opportunities across key sectors.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, along with senior officials, joined the meeting. The discussion covered bilateral ties, counterterrorism coordination, and opportunities for American investment in Pakistan’s mineral and energy sectors.
Focus on Regional Stability and Economic Growth
Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to regional stability and mutual economic progress. Minister Naqvi appreciated the growing interest of American investors in Pakistan’s expanding mineral and energy markets, assuring full government support and policy facilitation.
“We welcome US companies to explore Pakistan’s vast potential in minerals, energy, and industrial sectors,” Naqvi said, stressing that a stable investment climate remains a top government priority.
Tribute to Peace Efforts and Counterterrorism
Highlighting diplomatic developments, Minister Naqvi described US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace efforts as “sincere and historic,” crediting him for his contribution toward regional peace and stability in the Middle East.
Turning to Pakistan’s fight against terrorism, Naqvi reiterated that Pakistan has paid a heavy price to ensure global security, praising the security forces, police, and citizens for their sacrifices in combating extremism.
“Pakistan continues to serve as a frontline state against terrorism, and our commitment to global peace remains unwavering,” he said.
US Reaffirms Support for Counterterrorism Cooperation
Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker expressed condolences over the loss of lives in recent terrorist incidents and acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices in fighting terrorism. She reaffirmed that the United States will continue to partner with Pakistan in strengthening counterterrorism cooperation and promoting regional peace.
Senior officials, including Secretary of the Interior Muhammad Khurram Agha, Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Inspector General of Islamabad Police, and Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, also attended the meeting.
The engagement underscored both countries’ commitment to advancing cooperation in security, economic, and diplomatic domains, signalling a continued effort to reinforce Islamabad–Washington relations.
