Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a major relief package for families affected by the recent floods. Shehbaz Sharif waives power bills for all domestic consumers in flood-hit areas for August, ensuring that struggling households do not have to bear additional financial stress. He confirmed that the federal government will cover the cost of these bills.
The Prime Minister explained that those who already paid their August bills will get refunds through adjustments in their next month’s statement. This step, he said, is a direct effort to ease the pain of families who lost livestock, homes, and livelihoods during the floods.
In addition, Shehbaz Sharif said that the government is assessing losses suffered by commercial, industrial, and agricultural users. While their August payments are being deferred, further relief will be introduced once the evaluation is complete. He added that the federal and provincial governments, the army, and local communities are already carrying out coordinated rescue and relief operations.
Calling the initiative a “humble effort by Khadim-e-Pakistan,” the Prime Minister reaffirmed that no victim will be left without support. Shehbaz Sharif waives power bills not only as financial relief but also as a message of solidarity with the people. He vowed to continue rehabilitation until all flood-hit families are resettled.
Meanwhile, on the International Day of Democracy, Shehbaz Sharif emphasised the importance of democratic values and the 1973 Constitution. He said that democracy guarantees rights, equality, and unity, and stressed that Parliament plays a central role in safeguarding citizens’ interests.
Through this relief package, the Prime Minister underlined both his commitment to immediate flood recovery and his vision of a stronger democratic future for Pakistan.
