China’s J-20 stealth fighter will be presented in a ground static display for the first time during the upcoming PLA Air Force aviation open-day in Changchun, Jilin Province, from September 19 to 23, the Defence Ministry confirmed on Thursday.
The event, themed “pursuing dreams in aerospace, winning victories of the future,” will showcase more than 100 active and retired aircraft and ground systems. Key attractions include the debut static display of the J-20, first-ever bomber formation flyovers, and aerial performances by the Bayi, Red Falcon, and Sky Wing aerobatic teams.
Military analyst Fu Qianshao noted that the public will now have the rare opportunity to closely observe the details of China’s fifth-generation stealth fighter, reflecting the PLA Air Force’s growing openness and confidence. He added that bomber formations flying at low altitudes will also give spectators a direct sense of China’s strategic strike capabilities.
Beyond aircraft displays, the open day will feature immersive experiences, including flight simulators, drone operations, and parachute activities. Visitors can also explore themed exhibition halls, pilot recruitment booths, air traffic control demos, and academy admissions zones. Cultural highlights include an aviation salon, a drone conference, military band performances, and interactions with elite PLA pilots.
Other advanced aircraft, such as the J-16, J-10C, JL-10 trainer, and Z-20 helicopter, are also expected to appear, underlining the PLA Air Force’s advancements in equipment and combat readiness.
