Lieutenant General Yilma Merdassa, Commander of the Ethiopian Air Force, met Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters in Islamabad. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, joint training programs, and technological collaboration between the two countries.
On arrival, the Ethiopian commander was presented with a Guard of Honour by a PAF contingent. During discussions, both sides agreed to expand cooperation in training, capacity building, and aviation technology. Air Chief Marshal Sidhu assured Pakistan’s support in enhancing Ethiopia’s operational capabilities and underlined the importance of closer defence ties.
General Merdassa appreciated PAF’s combat experience, integrated command systems, and indigenous advancements, showing keen interest in technology transfer and modernisation of Ethiopia’s aviation sector. He also praised PAF’s readiness, multi-domain capabilities, and credible deterrence posture.
As part of his visit, the Ethiopian commander was briefed at the National ISR & Integrated Air Operations Centre and PAF Cyber Command, where he acknowledged Pakistan’s technological progress in modern warfare.
The visit reflects the shared resolve of Pakistan and Ethiopia to deepen defence collaboration and promote stronger bilateral relations.
