Gwadar Human Trafficking Bid Foiled, Two Arrested
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested two human traffickers in Gwadar for attempting to send Pakistani citizens to Iran through illegal sea routes.

According to an FIA statement, “major operations” were carried out by the Composite Circle Gwadar, leading to the suspects’ arrests from different areas of the district. Victims later identified the traffickers, who had charged Rs 10,000 each for the unlawful journey.

Human smuggling from Pakistan to Iran remains a long-standing challenge, with Balochistan’s coastal belt, particularly Gwadar, often exploited as a key transit point. Migrants, lured by promises of better economic opportunities or onward travel to the Middle East and Europe, frequently face perilous journeys arranged by traffickers.

The FIA confirmed that investigations have been initiated. Last week, five other traffickers were detained in Taftan and Loralai for allegedly sending people to Iran and Turkiye through fake documents and illegal routes. Among them, three were listed as most wanted by Pakistani embassies in Iran and Turkiye for facilitating large-scale illegal migration.
