In a major success against maritime drug trafficking, the Pakistan Navy and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) have seized a narcotics shipment worth $38 million, marking a significant victory in the fight against illicit drug smuggling via the Arabian Sea. According to the Navy’s media wing, the joint operation was conducted near Balochistan’s Pasni coast, where approximately 1,250 kilograms of illegal drugs were intercepted before reaching international markets.
The Pakistan Navy, ANF seizure included 1,100 kg of hashish, 50 kg of crystal meth, and 100 kg of heroin. These drugs were destined for international drug routes through the Arabian Sea. The intercepted narcotics were later handed over to the ANF for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The Pakistan Navy, ANF seizure of a $38M narcotics shipment underscores Pakistan’s strong stance against maritime smuggling and reflects the Navy’s commitment to maintaining maritime security in collaboration with law enforcement agencies. The operation was intelligence-based and is part of ongoing national efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks operating in regional waters.
The Navy highlighted that such operations are in line with national security objectives and affirmed its resolve to continue working closely with the ANF and other institutions. This isn’t the first such success. In February 2023, both forces conducted a similar maritime counter-narcotics operation, seizing drugs worth over Rs3 billion during a sea patrol in the Arabian Sea.
