President Asif Ali Zardari has reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to further strengthening its brotherly relations with Azerbaijan, founded on mutual trust, shared values, and common aspirations.
During a meeting with Azerbaijani Ambassador Khazar Farhadov in Islamabad on Wednesday, the President described Azerbaijan as a key partner, emphasising Pakistan’s desire to expand cooperation in trade, economy, and regional connectivity. He noted that stronger trade links, increased investments, and enhanced connectivity would bring the two nations closer and contribute to shared prosperity.
Congratulating Azerbaijan on its historic peace agreement with Armenia, President Zardari said the accord would pave the way for lasting peace, stability, and economic growth in the region. He asked the envoy to convey his felicitations to President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s belief in resolving disputes through dialogue and mutual respect, the President welcomed the launch of direct air links between the two countries, calling it a significant step toward boosting trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
He also thanked Azerbaijan for its steadfast support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, particularly as a member of the OIC Contact Group.
