Security forces have killed 14 more terrorists attempting to infiltrate from Afghanistan into Pakistan’s Zhob district, raising the death toll to 47 in a two-day anti-infiltration operation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the latest engagement took place on the night of August 8–9, 2025, during a sanitisation operation in the Sambaza area. The terrorists, identified as members of the Indian-sponsored outfit Fitna al Khawarij, a term used for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), were neutralised, and their weapons, ammunition, and explosives were seized.
The action followed earlier operations on August 7–8, in which 33 militants were killed in targeted strikes in the same area. ISPR stated that the security forces remain committed to safeguarding Pakistan’s borders and foiling any attempts to destabilise the region.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi lauded the forces’ swift action, noting that they had “foiled a sinister conspiracy to sabotage peace in Balochistan” and brought the terrorists “to an exemplary end.”
In May, Pakistan designated all militant outfits operating in Balochistan as Fitna al-Hindustan, underscoring its stance on India’s alleged role in backing terrorist activity in the province.
The fresh operation comes amid a surge in militancy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan following the TTP’s decision to end its ceasefire with the government in November 2022. Pakistan ranked second in the Global Terrorism Index 2025, with terror-related deaths rising by 45% over the past year.
