Pakistan has officially inducted the Chinese-made Z-10ME attack helicopter into its army aviation fleet, marking a significant step in modernising the country’s defence capabilities. The induction ceremony was presided over by Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, during his visit to the Multan Garrison, according to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations.
The Z-10ME, developed for export, is regarded as one of the most advanced medium-sized attack helicopters in the world. Chinese military expert Zhang Xuefeng noted that the upgraded model comes with additional armour plating, warning sensors, and jamming systems, enhancements that greatly improve its survivability in combat situations. These features, coupled with its powerful weapon systems, make the Z-10ME a formidable asset, particularly in anti-terrorism operations.
Jiang Bin, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defence, said on Friday that China is willing to share its defence technology achievements with friendly countries, including Pakistan. He emphasised that China-Pakistan defence and security cooperation is not targeted at any third party, but is aimed at supporting international and regional peace and stability.
Defence analysts say this induction also marks the first export of the Z-10, highlighting the deepening strategic defence partnership between Beijing and Islamabad.
