Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a message of condolence to Russian President Vladimir Putin following the deadly crash of a passenger plane in Russia’s Far East that claimed 49 lives, including one Chinese citizen.
Expressing shock over the tragedy, President Xi extended deep condolences on behalf of the Chinese government and people, offering heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims.
The An-24 aircraft, operated by Angara Airlines, was en route from Khabarovsk to Tynda with a scheduled stop in Blagoveshchensk when it went down near Tynda in the Amur Region. According to Russian officials, all 43 passengers and six crew members on board have been confirmed dead.
China’s Consulate General in Khabarovsk confirmed that one Chinese national was among the passengers. President Xi underscored solidarity with Russia in this moment of grief and reiterated China’s support for the Russian people during this difficult time.
