Xi urges immediate ceasefire in Middle East while stressing that the situation represents a broader trend of destabilization.

Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized on Thursday that achieving an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East should be a top priority.

He made these remarks during a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where both leaders shared their perspectives on the current Middle East crisis.

Xi elaborated on China’s stance, saying that the dangerous situation unfolding in the region reflects a broader global trend of instability and transformation.

He warned that continued escalation would not only bring heavier losses to the conflicting parties but also seriously impact neighboring countries in the region.

Xi emphasized that force is not a legitimate solution to international disputes, as it only intensifies hatred and fuels further conflict.

He called on the conflicting sides—especially Israel—to halt military actions immediately, in order to stop the violence from spiraling out of control and avoid a wider regional war.

Xi further stressed the need to protect civilians, stating that safeguarding non-combatants is a non-negotiable red line in armed conflict and that indiscriminate violence must not be tolerated.

He urged all parties to uphold international law, avoid harming innocent people, and ensure the safe evacuation of foreign nationals.

Xi reiterated that dialogue and negotiation are the only sustainable paths to peace, advocating for increased communication as the route to a long-term resolution.

He also called for renewed support for a political resolution to the Iranian nuclear issue, urging that talks and diplomacy be resumed to bring the issue back on track.

Xi highlighted the importance of international peace efforts, stressing that peace in the Middle East is essential for global stability.

He pointed out that the Israel-Iran conflict has dangerously raised tensions in the region and poses a serious threat to global security.

Xi urged influential global powers to help de-escalate the situation rather than inflame it, and called for the United Nations Security Council to play a more active role in resolving the crisis.

He concluded by reaffirming China’s commitment to working with all stakeholders, promoting justice, and playing a constructive role in restoring peace to the Middle East.
