Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday voiced serious concern over the rising tensions in the Middle East, urging all involved parties to take swift and concrete actions to reduce hostilities and avoid further escalation.
During a meeting with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the sidelines of the second China-Central Asia Summit in Astana, Xi shared his concerns about the worsening situation, particularly following Israel’s recent military operation targeting Iran.
Xi firmly stated that China opposes any actions that undermine the sovereignty, security, or territorial integrity of other nations, and reiterated that military conflict is not a viable means of resolving disputes.
He cautioned that military confrontations do not serve the interests of any party and only contribute to instability and prolonged tensions.
Xi underscored the need for collective efforts by the international community to calm the situation. He urged all sides to exercise restraint, refrain from actions that could inflame the conflict, and focus on restoring peace and stability in the region.
Reaffirming China’s consistent position, Xi said that China stands ready to collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to play a constructive role in bringing peace back to the Middle East.
