China has expressed support for a joint statement on the Israel-Iran conflict issued by 21 Arab and Islamic countries, and voiced readiness to cooperate with relevant parties to help de-escalate the situation, a spokesperson from the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
The joint statement, released by the foreign ministers of these 21 nations, emphasizes respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity, promotes good-neighborly relations, and advocates for peaceful dispute resolution.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun noted during a regular press briefing that Israel’s attack on Iran has led to a sudden and serious escalation in the region, drawing global concern. He emphasized that the immediate goal should be a ceasefire, halting the conflict, taking proactive steps to prevent further escalation, avoiding wider regional instability, and resuming efforts for peaceful dialogue.
Guo stated that China welcomes the joint declaration and values the contributions made by the involved countries to reduce tensions. He added that China is open to maintaining communication with all sides and is committed to playing a constructive role in promoting peace and stability.
