Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the urgent need to prioritize major projects like the Diamer-Bhasha Dam to build a robust system for ample water storage and energy generation across Pakistan.
During a meeting held in Islamabad on the Diamer-Bhasha Dam and other water reservoir initiatives, the Prime Minister ordered that any hurdles delaying the dam’s construction must be swiftly resolved to accelerate its completion.
He stressed that building new dams is vital for boosting water storage, ensuring a steady agricultural water supply, and mitigating flood risks. He further highlighted that economic independence relies on affordable power and a strong agricultural sector, which in turn requires effective water storage and management.
